False Prophets Project
Marketing Design // Campaign DesignProject Brief
The False Prophets Project is a fictional Christian-led Protest Campaign Project, with its goal to expose a handful of Pastors and televangelists of the Prosperity Gospel who imorally distort the word of Christ to profit largely on wealth instead of Church funding and community outreach. The project’s purpose is to largely boycott Ministries of the Prosperity Gospel and influence a more trustworthy and approachable faith in Christ.
Most notable figures include Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, Jesse Duplantis, and Benny Hinn.
The project and name was based off of Bible verse Matthew 7:15 which reads “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.”
What is the Prosperity Gospel, and why (as a Christian) it’s false?
The prosperity gospel (also called “health and wealth” theology) is a practice in some Christian Churches which claims giving money to ministries will result in financial wealth, good health, and success overall. Furthermore, claiming that if a person is or still is poor or in suffering health, that person is “not faithful enough”.
As a result, these practices have angered and resulted in many Christian (and even Catholic) scholars and leaders argue it is false because it treats the relationship with God like a transaction—giving or believing in order to receive money or benefits—which has been proven to distort core Biblical teachings about grace, while also ignoring themes including sin, suffering, moral humility, and imperfectness. Largely, Scholars noted the result in Prosperity leading to Pride and Greed, which are some of the most Sinful acts a Christian could follow.
