Ladies & Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones

Packaging Design // Art Direction

Project Brief

In 1973, The Rolling Stones released Ladies & Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones, a concert film and soundtrack recorded during the Stone’s 1972 American Tour.

Since then, they’ve never released the soundtrack of the film on vinyl. This case study showcases my approach to how I would handle the packaging design for the vinyl release, CD, and other merch.

For most of the rerelease packaging, it will largely use Ernie Cefalu’s controversial alternate Tongue and Lips logo design. The idea was due to the design widely used by the band members wardrobe onstage during the 1972 tour; most especially drummer Charlie Watts and lead guitarist Mick Taylor.
